TREPSEA 2021 Conference was held as Online Conference
Members of the SRIREP Project led by Professor Masayuki Sakakibara attended and presented at the 4th International Conference of Transdisciplinary Research on Environmental Problems in Southeast Asia (TREPSEA 2021) from September 16 to 18, 2021. This year TRPESEA Conference was held as an online conference due to the Covid – 19 pandemic situation among participating nations.
A total of 600 participants from five nations attended, including academic researchers and students as well as non-academic stakeholders: This TREPNEP three-day conference brought together representatives from Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Ecuador to discuss the vital issues of “Managing Ecological Risks and Natural Disasters in Southeast Asia: Challenges for Food Security, Public Health, and Economic Welfare.”
The opening ceremony was placed at 9:00 a.m. on September 16, 2021 (Jakarta time). First and foremost, the Indonesian national anthem was performed prior to the start of the competition. Second, Vice-Rector, University of Lampung (UNILA), Professor. Dr. dr. Asep Sukohar, S.Ked., M.Kes., presented his opening remarks.
After that, the opening statement was given by Professor Dr. Karomani, Rector of University of Lampung (UNILA) and Chairperson of TREPSEA 2021.
Professor Hein Mallee, Director of the Regional Center for Future Earth in Asia, Kyoto, Japan, and Deputy Director-General of the Research Institute for Humanity and Nature (RIHN), Kyoto, Japan, then gave his keynote speech, followed by Professor Bambang S Brodjonegoro, Professor of Economics, University of Indonesia, and Dr. Alue Dohong, Vice Minister of Environment and Forestry, Republic of Indonesia.
Only 116 items were chosen to present at this conference after being screened using criteria by the TREPSEA 2021 Committee.
