Executive Summary of the Study: Mining workers need alternative job opportunities to quite out from the economic trap of the ASGM sector while simultaneously reduce the negative effects of mercury pollution. The stakeholder assessment indicated that the Bombana Health Department, the Bombana Environment Agency, and local leaders were stakeholders who would support the mercury emission reduction program. Bombana District has many resources that can be developed to reduce poverty through collaboration with other organizations or funding. The results of focus group discussions indicate that Bombana has local resources and local knowledge that can be developed to reduce poverty namely; coconut sugar, shrimp paste, and banana chips. The use of traditional techniques in the process of producing commodities based on local resources causes low competitiveness, thus requiring technological innovation. The study was conducted in Bombana District, Southeast Sulawesi, Indonesia.
